Are there any extension like sobi2 have made "radius distance search" for virtuemart or something there look a like.

Where would the zip code be stored in Virtuemart?  Is this something like homes you're wanting to list?

Unclear "what" your want to search for?   products at a certain location?

If so how is it's location stored?

I have a http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=120179  radius shipping plugin taht uses the Goole api to get the distances from the "shop" address to the customer address -

is this something like that?
