Hey there,

Im just wondering what the problem is here? By that I mean with this forum and the support... Im completely serious when I say I have never ever seen so many orphaned pleads for help and 'no reply' questions.

Im just trying to understand is their something wrong? Is there no formal structure to supporting peoples queries?

If I search for simple things  like payment modules and configuring scripts for payment processors I see a bunch of confused answers and a whole lot of us amateurs floundering around in search of quick fixes to make virtuemart work.

I appreciate the complexity of the cart - its a massive thing... but Im not asking for miracles here - Im happy to help where I can but Im just new to this.

I think perhaps the problem may be when people get here and find there is no answer to their questions that they think sod this and change to a different cart in many circumstances...

Im sorry about the long moan - Im genuinely concerned about the health of this project... The Manual and the FAQ dont really go into that much detail in  certain very important areas (and that is fine - they are a general guide). But I did assume that there would be an active community of support here... I believe that there are certain people who do slip in and out of here but some people need help ASAP... its too late if a post gets answered in 2 months time - by then they are using some other cart!

In saying all this I dont mean for you guys who have clearly done a MAGNIFICENT job with virtuemart to be offended (far from it) I love virtuemart but just find it VERY VERY hard to find answers to my questions.

OK guys as I say please dont take this to heart - I feel that something needs to be said and perhaps someone may listen.

I think the problem may be something to do with the fact that most people search for their answers first and as a last resort post questions here... that and perhaps in the past Virtuemart was a bit of a neglected child so many of the searches I do have no replies to peoples questions - I have seen many threads with people coming back after asking a question some month or two later to say - never mind I worked it out myself - my guess is they never return after that!

OK so on further inspection I see there are or rather were some moves in a positive direction http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=30342.0 in the announcements area... but what has come of this?

I wish I could offer something but Im such a newbie here... I have a vested interest here - I have muffed my way through developing a virtuemart ebook site for a friend and am looking for a few answers. I will post this question seperately because it really isnt what I want to get at in this thread.

i have to say my experience is so far from what is writing above.
i found Virtuemart amazing component, and i started working with it early this year.
i found all answers to my problems, and now i have quite a lot of knowledge in Virtuemart i try to do the best to answer questions.
i have to say, it is so hard ot understand people questions, usually all problems have simple solution, but only if i understand the problem correct.

if any of you have questions, you can email me, i am usually online.
and i love to help.
