vmError: Img2Thumb NewImgCreate with imagecreatefromstring failed

My system is on Joomla 5.1.2, Virtuemart version 4.2.16 and ROCSVI version 8.12.1
I use ROCSVI to upload VM categories containing articles with  multiple images into VM without error message. Checking in VM the result, the above error message is shown for some .jpg images, others are error-free.
Is there any suggestion what the reason could be?

Seems the uploaded image isn't searched by the program
