Sort by price not correct (with inherited prices)

Hello,

I am finding that "Sort by price" produces incorrect ordering, when products inherit the price from their parent.

I am on VM 3.8.8 10472.
Is this a known issue? Has it been fixed in an update? If there is an available hack/tweak can you point me to that direction?
