There is no clear info about  "Strict Mode" in SEO "Configuration Tabs" in VM documentation...

I think it means, that only links in menues are valid.

In VM you can create one category item and it is possible to browse any, but the categories in the urls have no menu item. Strict mode allows imho only category links which has a menu item.
