vmpagination will not allow me to access the first page once I leave it

Hi folks,
I am helping my friend to maintain his (old) e-shop and he asked me to help him solve an issue that is bugging him and his customers.

When I access this side, all is fine, but it gets messy when I use vmpagination to leave the first page. Once I do it, I cannot return back. I can go to the last one, to the next one, but I am not able to return to the first one, I have to manually add "/results,1-0.html" to the end of the URL to be able to see it. I was digging your code in a hope I could fix it, but generated hrefs did not match those I saw in the browser, so I was wondering if there is some tool that modifies these links and boom - joomla has a feature called friendly URLs and, here is the neat part, when I disable it, It all start working again! So, I was wondering what I can do about it...

Also, I have just noticed, that the same problem is with the "contact us" form. With friendly URL, the form is there, but once I disable it and I use the navigation to go to contact us form, the form is missing. Was this issue also fixed? Also can you point me to the release where it was fixed (I am only 2 releases behind).
