Disabled field is still selected for orders

Hello,

I have a very strange bug. And I hope someone can explain to me how this can happen. I have a product with a custom field. And I disable that with the override checkbox and the disable checkbox. This works pretty well and the custom field option is not displayed on the website.

HOWEVER, and this is very strange, and I cannot wrap my head around it. Sometimes (like 1 in a 1000) an order contains that specific field that i have disabled. How is this possible? Is there something in the rendering done in Javascript or something? How can one user have this field displayed as an option while I have disabled it and I do not see it back on the website. Like this is some kind of local issue??

Is there any news around this bug? I'm still experiencing this, and it's getting annoying lol.

I don't understand because as far as I understand the custom fields are getting rendered by PHP, so i'm not sure why the HTML is there to begin with. Can anyone clue me in how this bug is possible?

Also what is the correct way to disable custom fields? Because you have to do all kinds of weird stuff (like directly editing the database) to disable fields. Because if you remove a custom field, the orders that have the custom fields then don't have that value anymore.
