I am adding products under women category and dresses subcategory...and i was curious about one thing.
If i add the word (dress) at the end of each product name would it benefit me on my SEO efforts?

For example a typical product name for my product is
Golden tibeb

and the URL will look something like this
http://www.example.com/index.php/en/women-clothing/dresses/golden-tibeb-detail

but what if i made the URL look like this
http://www.example.com/index.php/en/women-clothing/dresses/golden-tibeb-dress-detail
by adding dress at the end of the product name.

would it help me in my SEO efforts to optimise my site?
and what if i did end all my dress products with the word (dress)? is it good or bad?
Thanks

IMHO a waste of time.. Google does factor in urls but it is a tiny % compared to content and backlinks

I am using JoomSef for SEF urls. After clicking the install button, it said that JoomSef was updated. Now, many of my URLs are messed up and some don't work. The variable ?limitstart=0 is also being appended to many of my URLs. Google is now indexing multiple URLs including URLs with category/subcategory paths pre-pended to them. How do I uninstall the SEO for Virtuemart extension and return my URLs back to what they were?

It's better to have it in the url and the meta description (and maybe also in the title) than not to have it. I use something similar since many years and it does help to rank higher in Google. Backlinks are still a good thing to have, but their importance has been decreasing the past few years. A good product description has become more important.

There is no SEO "extension" in VirtueMart. You can disable VM SEO in the Configuration/SEO tab, but VM is designed to work with Joomla's inbuilt SEF and does not require a third party SEF extension - in fact using one can cause problems. Multiple URLs is not an issue for Google, it is the canonical URL that is important.
