product with textbox field

Hello,

I need to create a product with a text box input field. Like T-Shirt or bracelet with custom note.
The custom field should have the different text length limit/quantity of rows  for each product
Any hint is appreciated highly!

I am absolutely novice to Viruemart and I was asked for help by my husband with his project.

I have managed to create text field input. But a couple of questions remain.
1) How to make it mandatory?
2) How to limit character quantity? (there is a setting with limit, but anyway I can type in as many symbols as I can).

I really appreciate your help!
