Alatak USPS module not calculating distance

I have recently installed the Alatak USPS shipping module (plgvm_alatak_usps_2.15) , created my USPS API account, and published the module to the frontend of my website.  I am running JOOMLA! 2.5.28 and VirtueMart 2.6.18.

The module is displaying the rates, and when I add different items to the cart (changing the total weight) the rates change accordingly, so I can tell that the module is calculating weight properly.

However, I have entered billing addresses from vastly different addresses across the United States, and the rates DO NOT CHANGE. I have tried clearing recent history, and clearing the cache in my browser (Mozilla Firefox), but the rates still do not change with the different distances of the billing addresses.  I have also tried adding a shipping address to the cart that is different from the billing address.  I understand that some USPS rates are flat rates, but even the Library Mail, Media Mail, and Standard Post rates stay the same.

It appears that the module is not calculating distance.

I am assuming that the problem may be that the module does not know where "home" is.  I have looked through my VirtueMart shop but can't find how to correct this.  Is this a problem with the module or an error on my part in overall VirtueMart configuaration?

Also, in a related question:  I am considering updating to VirtureMart 3.x.  Will I have to update my current version of this module?  If so, will this update be free or will I be forced to purchase a USPS 3.x version for VM, even though I have already have purchased the module once?

Thanks

I've updated my vendor profile with the exact USPS address for my location, but the module still does not calculate distance.  Does anyone have info on this issue?  ValĂ©rie from Alatak.net can you reply please?
