Well i came here just to say that im facing the same problem (try to register and nothing happens) and im using Virtuemart 3.0.6.4 account maintance and still doesn't work. Im using Megadeal template for my job. This is a major problem and the site can't go online without fixing this. Please anyone can help me please?

[EDIT]

Ok that was my fault. Joomla User registration was disabled. And the joomla docs was giving me the wrong instructions. if anyone else want to see where to enable "User Registration" see here: http://issues.joomla.org/tracker/joomla-cms/5468

That's it

Check with beez template, I had the same problem and it was due to our template providers plugin (yagendoo).

They solved it with an upgrade saying something had changed in the latest versions of vm for the account maintenace so ask your template provider just in case.

An easy check we did was trying to register from the checkout, which worked even when account maitenance failed.

How can I ensure that joomla registration is never be used?

We use a module http://extensions.joomla.org/extension/slick-login-for-virtuemart

That allows us to set a custom URL so we set there the URL for vm account maintenance. On register click the visitor is always redirected to vm register.

However we use default joomla register for mobile users.. so shouldnt be a problem to combine them either.
