Hello,

Im building a website that is going to sell Rims.
In the same time i will have 4 types of tires as products too.
How can i make the tires as cart variant under every product page?
The reason i want to do it this way is because of the fact tire models get discontinued so i wont have to change on every product but change the actual discontinued tire itself.

If you don't want to use stock just use string custom fields
https://www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/custom-field-virtuemart/

If you want to have stock you can use either the child variants custom either this one

My question on this is this:

if i use this plugin and for example one of the addons products need to be replaced with another one do i need to go to every single listing and change it?

As with any store, real or virtual, your stock must be maintained.

But, there is a flaw between what VM is currently providing (VM 3.0.4) and what the real world requires.

In a physical store, you can put a dress in your shop window to bring the customer in through the door. That dress could be any size or colour, and you may want to express the choice of shapes and colours in your shop window (The parent product)

Once the customer is drawn into the store by the dress in the front window, they will want to know if you have their dress in the size and colour they want (The child product)
If you have not put their size and colour out on display then they will want to know if their size is available, and if not, perhaps when will it be available.

For this type of store, stock availability is essential.

That part is currently not available/not working from Virtuemart 3.X

There are currently templates that bring you nicely down to this point
There are plugins that currently bring you up to this point.

But the point at which you can express available stock on the front end and maintain stock on the back end - eludes us.

The current virtuemart demo is using VM 3.0.6, whereas VM 3.0.4 is currently available.

Most templates are not correctly supporting VM 3 at present and plugins to support stock are not supporting those templates.

It all looks like it is very close, but a stock control solution that works does not currently appear to be there. The VM 3.0.6 demo appears to work correctly, so I think we are looking for some templates that support this functionality.

I have three sites with different templates and I have tried all combinations of all obviously apparent solutions...nothing works

But the VM 3.0.6 demo appears to work - so, just a matter of time I think.

For examples I have the following

http://elanvape.com/index.php/en/shop/liquids/eve-guava-e-liquid-detail
Child variant with 3 children and a single label field (0mg, 6mg and 12mg)

Then I have
http://flat.ciseleur.com/index.php/en/women/dresses/t-shirt-detail
which is a child variant 4 children with 2 custom fields (size (2) and color(2))

These are under development and therefore may change in the next few days

But in the future please feel free to contact me for changes

Delighted to hear that .. it's just that to test this scenario->

would take less time than to write and post the question....    ;)     :)
