Specified Product to trigger discount for other products

Been searching for a solution to this but to no avail..

What i would like to have happen is when a certain product is added to cart, a discount of 50% becomes applicable to all other products in the store. However the triggering product shouldn't have its price changed i.e. no discount.

Is this even possible?
