add to cart button not working

Hi I have selected the "use only as catalogue" in configuration/shop so customers could not buy when I initially go live with the site but when I have deselected this now to enable customers to buy the button reappears but does not do anything.

The pop up modul "add to cart does not appear.  When I have hover over the button the little hand appears but nothing happens.  Not sure why as was working fine before.


Any suggestions?

joomla!: 2.5.18
php: 5.4.31

Just tried it again and realised that the button doesnt change when I hover it so it a CSS problem??!!

You should update Joomla and VM:  http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=118683

CSS issues will not prevent add to cart from functioning, this is usually a JavaScript issue.  http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=118683

Ive just accessed the shopping cart and the products are being put in the cart etc but just not showing to customer - who obviously needs to be able to see the cart etc!1

My VM is actually 2.6.10!  Forgot I had updated this last week.  does this mean it is my Joomla! 2.5.18 that needs the update?

Im a bit nervous of updating to Joomla! 3 as my template is only 2.5 compatible.

There is no need to go to Joomla3!

Joomla2.5 (you should be on 2.5.24 for security reasons) with VM2.6.10 is what would be called current stable at the moment.

The simple test is to try your install with the standard template (Beez) - if it all works (which it most likely will) then it is a problem with your template

Either ask the template maker for an update for VM2.6.10 or you will need someone to update it for you.

Thanks for the advice.

Used another of my installed templates and problem still occurs.  Add to Cart Button appears but has no apparent function.  However, when I use another of my other main menu items and use it as a virtuemart shopping cart it shows all the products I have selected in the invoice.  So it looks like the box (is it called a modal box?) is not appearing when the add to cart button is clicked and my customers have no way of seeing their cart!   This all worked fine until I selected the "use only as a catalogue" - which was only a temp measure but now looks like a more permanent setting if I cant get the add to cart button to function etc.

Want to cry as so close but yet so far!!!

why "another"?

try Beez that is std and bundled with Joomla - but without a live url very difficult to give any more advice

Only used "another" as the beez template did not show my main menu for some reason.

I appreciate individual help needs to be paid for but funds not available as yet (thats why Im doing the website!)
