Transferring Content from one Website to another (same Joomla and VM versions)

Hi All,

My configuration is: Joomla 2.5.20, PHP 5.3.28 and Virtuemart 2.6.6 (SEF = Off)

The Live Site URL for this issue is: http://www.ballitowebsitedesign.co.za

The problem.

Background: I recently completed Website for a client only to find, at the last minute, that the User Registration Form is broken and therefore so is the shop and Website.
Now I have already added all the VM content (products & categories) and K2 Items but now have to start again.

I have managed to reinstall a fresh install of the theme/template, with the User Registration Form now working but now need to transfer all the VM and K2 content.

I have taken copies of the specific sections of the database (via Akeeba backup) and added them to the new website via PHPMyAdmin, Import .sql, and although the content is visible and correct in the front end of the Website, when i go to the back-end (Admin) I cant edit any item or add a new item, i hust get a white (blank) screen.

I see that the content I have moved over has no 'Author' (User) related to it - could this be the issue and if so how do i overcome it?

There is only one user on the Website (Super User)

I desperately need help.

Thanks in advance.

First I would create a local copy of the site (with the broken user registration form) with Akeeba and check on the copy if updating to VM 2.6.8 solves the user registration problem.
However, I'm not shure about the exact symptoms when you say "User Registration Form is broken".
What I noticed on your live site is, that you have enabled Re-Captcha, but it is not correctly configured. It says "URL of your website is incorrect, please check the URL of your website at www.keycaptcha.com".  Also I suppose, in order to be able to use a registration form, the user has to click on "Accept Cookies" first (I don't use a cookie plugin, so I've not tested this).

Quotewhen i go to the back-end (Admin) I cant edit any item or add a new item, i hust get a white (blank) screen.
Might be a problem with your vendor id. See here (it's an old post, but I think it will give you an idea what to look for):

Hi jjk,

Thanks for your reply to my issue.
The problem is now solved.

Here's my findings:
When installing this template (quickstart package) on my local machine (XAMMP) it would not install the default joomla sample data.
So, instead i uploaded the quickstart package to a spare domain (live environment) and installed from there.
This allowed me to install the 'default joomla sample data' and I was immediately able to see the user registration form in place.
I then used 'SP Transfer' to migrate all my content and settings from the broken website to the working version and I'm back on track.

Thanks again.

simpler just to extract the template from the quickstart (hate them with a vengence) and install on a clean J2.5.24/VM2.6.10
