Authorize.net AIM vs PayPal Payment Pro - Capturing funds when shipped

Currently we have Authorize.net set to "Authorization and Capture", which can cause problems if we have to backorder an item and it ships out later.

For this reason, we would like to do do an initial Authorization, and capture the money later.

Is this something that can be automated using Authorize.Net / PayPal Payment Pro or do we have to manually capture the transactions using their website?
