How to implementation sort by asc/desc price in category like this ?

Set "Default product sort order " in VM Configuration/Product Order Settings to Product Price and then that is the sort order used on the default category display, hitting the +/- on the FE Sort by changes the order from high to low or vice versa.  This is in VM2.6.6 - you can change the style/layout with css or a template override.

Expecting a bit much for someone to spend time back hacking a 3+ year old release! It works perfectly in current releases

Nobody should be using that old release candidate version, which was never intended for use on a live site, only for testing - and we now know has at least 3 different critical security issues.

If you really cannot upgrade to current versions (VM2.6.6 on J2.5.22) so that you will have the options you request, then I suggest you commission a programmer to hack the code for you. I doubt if anyone here would even have copies of that old version around.
