Seasonal discounts

I've tried to search, and wonder if it's really true that nobody have ever asked about it: These days we all offer discounts that are good untill sertain date. How do I set it up? In my case, we sell seatings at the event. And the price would be, say, $400, regular, but if purchased before Jan 1st, it would be $200. How do I go about it?

Probably nobody would ask because it is so easy to do. Either use a tax/calculation rule for discount with a start/end date or use the date start/end against Final price for each product price.
