Core files for adding/reading the custom fields?

Hello!

Where are the core file for adding/reading the custom fields for each product?


When I add a custom field from the admin panel, it is added correctly.

When I try to add a custom field directly to the database, while the value is there, the product gets always the first value..


Can anyone help?
