Product pics from external url like vm 1.5

Hi

We have a site with more than 20000 products and we are trying to update to vm2 . we want to know if there is a way to add product pictures using external url from 3d party sites , like we did in vm 1.5 as the size of the pics is too big to be downloaded in our server . \\
