Cannot update from 2.0.22a

Hello!
I can't update virtuemart from 2.0.22a to 2.0.22c even from extention manager. Error: Unable to write entry / Unable to find install package
Joomla 2.5.11
PHP 5.5.1 (xampp)
Akeeba not used
/tmp/ path is set correctly and it's wtritable

Please help

to 2.0.22b also cannot update

Yes, I used the described procedure, and this is not the first update. Earliaer all updates were done successfuly.
P.S. If this matters, i'm using a multilangual virtuemart

Possibly the PHP version. Use PHP 5.3 or an early version of 5.4

I had the same issue.
i solvedit by installing from folder at the root

( in fact, when you want to update automatically from virtuemart, it firts install the update  in a folder  at the root of your domain. After , it crashed during instal.
=> But if you retry to install from this folder using joomla installation extension  it works correctly.

No idea at all.
What is sure:
- Automatically from virtuemart : did not work
- Using joomla extention manager to install  virtuemart using the folder ( which has been download at the root of the domain by the first crashed 'virtuemart automaticaly update')   instead the zip: ok

For me: It has been the case with the 2.022b and confirmed with  2.022c update.

i think that xampp cannot handle tar or gz, change the install packges to zips and give that a go

we are not disussing about domain of a provider  ( not your personal localhost)
In addition, virtuemart correctly unzipped the files as you can successfully install the package  fom the "unzip by virtuemart " folder using joomla extension manager !!.

In fact, installing the virtuemart update is not really a pb, as you have a workaround. The question is: why virtuemart is able to correctly unzip the update but fail when installing. =>  And evrything ok using  joomla extension manager !

@dbcig2013  the live updater in VirtueMart uses Akeeba's updating code, and this is failing to work properly with some file packages. Joomla's extensions installer has no problem with the same packages. It is possible that the live updater will be removed from VM admin and managed within Joomla, but at the moment thare are other priorities.

thanks!!, its working for me. i extracted it again in zip format then its give me no error when installing...
