Can anyone please explain to me why all price-details of childproducts are lost after editing parentproducts?

Cos during saving parent Product Information you also save Child Product Info (parent/child infos are placed on one Edit page in VM backend).

So this means I can't use regular products as child products? This can't be true........ I need stock control for my child products, parents are just a necessity to be able to choose the children and give product descriptons, they are no real products and cannot be bought. All my price and stock data is imported from my bookkeeping software and with almost 3000 products (mainly child products) this is not going to work. In a while there will be about 30000 products, but if VM doesn't function correctly on childproducts, then VM is definitely not suitable for me. I guess I have to look at Magento again.

Post here a screen shot of your parent product edit page - 1st tab (VM backend). This fill make things clear.

On that tab VM does show stocks of the childproducts, but leaves the price fields blanc. I think VM should take over the prices of children, too. It shouldn't be needed to fill in the prices again.

I have stopped my struggle with VirtueMart. In the past year and a half some improvements have been made, but there are still too many things that just don't work as they should. For instance this price-losing thing and my other topic about unwanted access of a child via seach on manufacturer, and being able to go into child A but order child D instead. My VM 1 webshop has been outdated for over a year and a half now and I can't wait any longer for further improvements. So I have decided to switch to Magento.

Thanks development team for making VM1, which I enjoyed using.

You ran away from resolving your issue in VM so I'm happy cos my presence in this thread is not necessary any more.

I ran away because after a year and a half of only questions which no one seems to be able to anser (not only in this forum but in dutch forums as well) I can no longer wait for VM2 to mature.

To answer my question you don't need a link. The problem is clear, anyone who would want to, could reproduce it. I am just surprised - again - that no one seems to have discoverd these problems before.

Well, you know, issues could happens. But how we deal with them could show who are we are. Running away is still a solution I must admit.

"A year", - you are saying. I don't own time machine, but I have power to say: "Let's work today here and now, to make future better".

Choosing Magento means cutting my losses after a year and a half struggling. It's as simple as that. These are not just issues, they are major faults. The problems with decimal places and full order editing in the backend (possible in VM1) which I mentioned a year ago, still are not fixed. Order editing is possibly only partially. Adding orders via backend.... still impossible. Several problems I posted in Dutch forums.... no solutions. VM2 lacks a lot of basic functionality which was present in VM1.

So if you really do want to work here and now, stop asking for screenshots or links when problems are clear enough to be handled without them. Just answer my questions and don't try to be funny. I need answers, no jokes.

I know that I am not the only one who decided to leave VM2. But not everyone will mention it here. When people DO mention it, take them seriously, don't joke with them. If I only had spent a couple of hours trying to implement VM2, you would have every right to say that I ran away. But this struggle has taken so much time now, that I need to make choices. If you wish to call that running away, then I am very sorry for you. This is business, so I need to make decisions because time means money.

Take a look again at the problems I mentioned and at least try to solve them for the people who keep using VM2.

Really? VM1 had plugin API?

Pardon me, but I want to discuss issues if topic starter don't mix in one post mentioned issues with own 'love' to VM. 2 in 1 is not for me. Not in this case.

Where exactly did I mention that VM1 had plugin API? (whatever that may me.......)

The only reason I mentioned earlier and other problems in this post is because you accuse me of running away instead of solving problems. What options do I have if no one seems to be able te solve my problems? And what options do I have if a mod thinks making fun of VM-users is more important than answering their questions? Well then....... misread my posts and call me crazy, accuse me of running away, call me whatever you want. All the more reason for me to get rid of VM.

But for other users' sake, solve the problems that I've mentioned. It won't help me anymore but maybe you can prevent other users from switching to Magento. Which, in fact, is definately not harder to learn than VM.
