This error occurs in nearly all VM 2.0 Versions

If you copy a product which already has an related image and if you want to change the product image of the copy these changes affect the original product. This means if you change any image of the copied products all images of the copied and the original product will be changed to the new image.

I think the image is related to the original product and does not get a new id in the db.

1. That means that this 'error' was placed 'in nearly all VM 2.0. versions' for a reason. Very obviously, isn't it?

2. This is a powerful feature.

3. Maybe you are talking about file name of the picture?

General advices remain the same:
a) give picture file names unique names
b) place images in subfolders

So do effective file management yourself. VM is not answer for all questions.

1. probably this has an obvious reason...but if i would guess, i guess this error or feature like you call it wasn´t mentioned before because there are work arounds to solve it.
2. if you could select, if you want this feature or not, this would be powerful. so it hurts many times, because you can´t simple copy nearly similar products and having different images.
3. no.  just try to copy a product with an image and change the image of the copied product to a new one. this affects the original one. no matter where the image is located.

this has nothing to do with my file management. seems to me that you didn´t get the (my) problem.

well, i´m running vm and i´m very pleased about it. and you will find more solutions for other vm users than requests from me. this was just a report from me and the vm team can decided if you take it or leave it.
