Confirming Registered Paying Customers for Site Access

Friends,

VM2(2.0.20b), Joomla 2.5.11

I am new to VM2 and e-commerce - so far everything is setup proper, working with sandbox paypal, and check out process works.

Only selling one product which is my virtual book accessible after payment received and verified. Only way to access my book is through my joomla site as a registered customer. No downloads, links to files needed. Customer is paying for login site access to my content.

I run through the check out process, sign up and register but don't pay - my test account can access the registered joomla site. This is what I don't want. Messed around with joomla's.

When a customer registers they are joomla user. Is there a difference between VM2 or Joomla users?

The million dollar question is should I give access manually when I verify payment. Change the customer account status to registered for entry? In VM2 or is there a (add on) plugin that can perform this automatic?

Please advise and point me in the right direction.

Thank You,

Dave

In http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=116627.msg393393#msg393393  you said this would be available as a download file - if there is no download file at all then you should use a different component, something programmed to provide site access rather than sell a product. Something like Membership Pro - http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/e-commerce/membership-a-subscriptions/20725

For content access control I use Community Builder with the CBSubs plugin, but that may be over the top for you.  The best way is probably to just have a downloadable product in VM as an epub or pdf file rather than controlling content access.

Jenkinhill,

Appreciate the info. but those other options don't think will work for what I am looking for.

Maybe VM2 is not intended for what I need especially selling one product for registered site access.
I did look at pay plans which is already configured on another joomla server I work with and that
might be what I am after. Membership pro is also a good option as well.

Community Builder/CBS plugin is too complex for what I need..

Only way I can think is if I was to go with VM2 is to have a pending access group w restrictions. Once payment is verified, I change
to registered. Too much complexity and want automation.

Appreciate your help.

Thank You,

Dave
