Beginner - Custom Field Cart Attribute

Can I create a custom field that is a cart attribute that is only Text.
No Drop down, no radio button. Just text.

If I make it a Cart Attribute, then the information shows up next to my product.

Hi,
You can chose custom field type : text-area or editor.

It still places a radio button on my page though.
I'm trying to just have separate titles... if possible.

Used Firebug, found the CSS style sheet.
Deleted "Display" line.
