some "completed" PayPal orders shown as "pending" on VirtueMart

I have the latest version of the VirtueMart (2.0.20) installed on Joomla 2.5.11. For some unclear reasons, VirtueMart shows some of the orders as "pending" even though the client has completed the order and the transaction has been set as "completed" on PayPal.com.
What is very strength is that it only happens once in a while. I have tried to check all details to find something special about those orders ... but no luck! I have checked and http://yourdomain.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&view=pluginresponse&task=pluginnotification&tmpl=component is accessible. Further more, when checking in PayPal's IPN history, all transaction IPN messages has been sent successfully, even the ones that are still marked as "pending" in VirtueMart.

I have found out that is I MANUALLY RESEND THE IPN MESSAGE through PayPal, it fixes the issue. I need to find a way to automate the re-sending of the IPN for pending orders. I would really appreciate any contribution.

I am having the same problem. i checked with all the suggestions on the sticky http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=110463.0

non of which needed to be corrected in my case. i ran the debug and

"2013-08-03 17:36:38 message: plgVmConfirmedOrder order number:......."

so that works fine.

vm version = 2.0.22a
joomla = 2.5.14

the site was migrated from joomla 1.5 vm 1x a few months ago. could this be related? maybe some db value was changed in the migration? anyone know where i can begin to look or have any suggestions?
