relationship between products from different categories

i want products from different categories to have a relationship beside manufacturer.

example:
given two products:
1) a tshirt
2) a framed artwork
they owns to the same manufacturer and that's ok, i can set this.
but how relate them given the fact that thay represent the same image printed?
i want that when user see the tshirt, near it's shown something like "also available as.." with the framed artprint of the same image.

any advice?

Go to your product settings -> tab customfields

add your second product to related products
