.gif images not working as thumbnails after migration

Hi, I've upgraded both VM and Joomla (2.0.20b and 2.5.11 respectively). All good except .gif images are not resizing and displaying as thumbnails (works fine for jpg and png images).

GB library is installed and appears to be OK.

Anyone come across anything similar?

Not all servers have the GD library compiled to include gifs. Standard shop product files are jpegs - that's all I have ever used with VM products.

ISTR about a year ago someone reported they could not use gifs, but that is the only case I remember here.
