File type to poulate a VIRTUEMART cart...

Im new to running a store and also new to VIRTUEMART. I have sighned up to use Inventory source as a auto update and tech solution for the porducts that I will be selling online....They have a data download file as to update the already poulated shopping cart...(new produts)..But what I dont know is what file type to get the update in and also Where to place this file to update inside VIRTUEMART to add this file as to show up in my shopping cart....I have been looking in the fourms for sometime now and have not found the right infomation to help me...Anyhelp would be great or atleast a great big push where to look to make this work?
