Custom Field - text entry by customer

I want the customer to add text (i.e. measurements for the product) to the product when ordering. 

A simple field where they enter text.

Is this possible?

The documentation doesn't help.

I would pay for VirtueMart if it had complete documentation with examples.  Or even with a demo install that exercises all the possibilities - especially with the custom fields.

Yes you should be able to set up a simple text field in VM so that you can ask your customers to type in text.

Remember there are quite a few extensions that you can pay for that have this option in regards to sizes.

It might give you some peace for your soul. Mat 11.29.    If you are stuck with the text vartiant  option  I'm sure we can step you through it.

For this effort I'm finding 1 Thes 5:21 more applicable, "Test everything, hold on to the good." 

I have tried many variations and nothing seems to work.  Can you give me the settings for the Custom fields?

If you use the option plugins and call it type a size same and then open any product and add the variant size and save. You will see the text option appear.

From there you can play with lots of options.James 1:3
