Child Product with Custom Input Field

Hi,

I am creating a shopping cart for a fan club and can't seem to add a custom field to a child product.

I have parent & child products as follows:

New Membership
- Under 12 Years of Age
- Under 18 Years of Age
- Regular Adult
- Over 61 Years of Age
- Family Membership

I have a Generic Child Variant Custom field for the parent product (which for some reason shows in the child products too in the backend). I am trying to add more custom fields to allow the shopper to input certain information needed for the registration but when I add a custom field in a child product and save the custom field simply disappears.

Can this be done? Or am I bending the rules here?

What version of VM2 are you using? Some of the older ones were particularly buggy with custom fields.
