Virtuemart saving products with same SKU

Hello,

I noticed today while cloning products to fill my website that Virtuemart is allowing for products with the same SKU to be saved and used on the website.
Also tried to replicate it manually and again the same.

Is this the way it supposed to be or ?

Yes, an SKU is not unique.
