Need Api or document to develop Payment Gateway ?

I need to develop Hdfc payment gateway integartion with Virtuemart 2.x or virtuemart 1.x . Please provide me APi documents , Trigger or and developer docs which will help me to develop this.

Would be glad if you provide some sample codes to use these events.
