Airway Bill integration

Hi

I am a Virtuemart newbie so need a bit of help. My prospective client has asked me to integrate Airway Billing No into the e-commerce site (AWB). He says it can be done via shipping api's.  Essentially he wants a system where after placing a order the  details of that order based on the client zipcode should be passed onto the Shipping Company. Once the shipping order is placed the shipping companies (dhl, fedex, aramex) generate a Airway Bill No from their site. Can this be done in Virtuemart, the purpose of doing is to automate the shipping as he feels he will have to check each order and co-ordinate with the shipping company for each shipment if this is not implemented. Searched a lot on Virtuemart but could not get a clear idea of this.

I don't think anyone has done this, so you will have to write or commission a shipping plugin to do this. VirtueMart is extended by the use of plugins for which hooks are provided.
