Hi,

I have a fruits and vegetables website and I'd like to sell 1.5 kg of apples for instance.

So I need to change the quantity box steps from 1 to 0.5.

I found a solution for virtuemart 1.x.x : http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=65074.0 but I'm running virtuemart 2.0.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there

Has anybody come up with a solution for this issue?

Milbo

yeh, the solution is to think correctly. You can only sell quantities of complete units. You cannot sell a half ware. You sell always one unit.

"So what is Milbo talking for a nonsense, I can easily buy a quarter of butter". Yes that is right, but you buy then one unit of 250g Butter. You do not buy 1/4 of an article. You buy the whole article.

We had this discussion often with our customsize plugin. In case of Bananas it is not so obvious, but for example think about other meterware. Sometimes people want to buy 2 times 1,5 meter wood.

I suggest either to use the "generic child variant" and to create for your steps an own product, or if you want that your customer can enter the amount, then use the customsize plugin http://extensions.virtuemart.net/products/custom-size-detail or if you have fixed sizes and you want that vm calculates the quantity for you, then use http://extensions.virtuemart.net/products/package-size-detail

In VM3, I can promise that the customsize plugin will also be able to change the weight of your product.

Funny, I just tried to underline my argumentation by wiki. I find only german pages, but you may use google translate ( to english) http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anzahl and http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/St%C3%BCck_(Mengeneinheit)
Should I fix your bug, please support the VirtueMart project and become a member
