Menu building and SEF

I have strange issues adding links to mainmenu.
if link alias are equal  to category name, the template override doesn't work. (playing with the options of seo joomla/virtuemart suddenly works)
in some category pagination works with parameter in url ?start=8 por second page, and some category ad /results,9-16.html and doesnt work (jump to parent category)

I've unnistalled component and modules and installed again

Which versions of Joomla anf Virtuemart?
Recommended SEF settings are:
- Joomla and VM2 SEF: enabled
- Joomla "Add suffix to url": disabled
- VM2 "SEO suffix": -details (or html or whatever you like). Since product detail pages can be reached through different urls, VM2 requires a suffix to tell the system that it is on a product details page) Don't leave the VM2 SEO suffix field emtpy.
