After Upgrade, an error occurs when clicking on thumbnail

for the record:

I have joomla 2.5.7


had virtuemart 2.0.6 installed and just upgraded to straight no 2.10, no inbetweens because I was not using virtuemart for a while

now I need it and well, everything seems fine exept the fact then when you enter a category, if you click on the thumbnail of a product and the modul popup comes up to show you the image, the modal popup is completely blank and says 'an error occured'

I'm not sure how to fix this, I've looked around but it doesnt seem that other people had the same problem as me

Just test your url and the images are popup fine! Did you clear your browser cache?
btw, after the upgrade did you make the changes on your custom template? If yes, then you have to apply the changes on your template http://virtuemart.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=416

I cleared the cache many times, problem persists, but only with firefox, chrome and ie are fine, which must mean its the cache but clearing it doesnt seem to work

also, is it imperative that I make the changes? what will happen if I dont? also, I started off with virtuemart 2.02 and when I upgraded to 2.06 I never made any of the changes because I guess I did not know about it, should I go back and do those as well? would it be easier to download full version of vm 2.10 and make a new install?

one more thing, is it possible to stop the product image from opening in a modal popup and when clicked instead it goes to the product details page?

I took a look again and as i see you have already link the product image to product details page.

Yes you should apply that layout changes because VM has been updated with new features and you will face prices issues and other issues that you will not know why are this happening. You could compare previous version layout code or use the links i gave you to make the changes, some of them are vital. If you have little changes inside your custom vm layout (overrides) then you could copy the new files you need again and apply your changes to the latest version layout files. VM 2.0.2 is a very old version and your apply all changes from there to 2.0.6, 2.0.8 and them 2.0.10. How many files have you changed?? Can you track your changes?=

The problem with firefox could be caused by your custom template (css may be) or any third party plugin/module/component that cause javascript conflict (usually caused by that) and facebox is not working (modal popup). You could use firebug with firefox to examine if there are issues like that. But i think it could be cause for the reason that you haven't update your layouts.

I will do the changes from 2.02 to 2.1 and I will let you know

what is weird, is the fact that on one computer the problem persists with firefox but with another computer it does not, also may I add that the facebox works in other instances e.g. when adding a product to the cart

also, when I click on a product thumbnail, instead of getting a modal popup with an enlarged version of the thumbnail, can I have it so that it goes straight to the product details page?


as for the question about how many changes I have done to virtuemart, I have not done any modifications to it exept installing a payment plugin

yes you should make the changes on your vm custom template and try it again from 2.0.4 to 2.0.10, you could apply the changes or apply your changes to a new override using vm default themes from 2.0.10.
