Error on checkout using Joomla 2.5.4/VM 2.0.10

After installing VM 2.0.10 and setting up products etc., I try a test purchase and get a fatal error: (see 2 screen shots attached). The files referenced in the error log seem to be in the correct directories.

Any idea what is happening here?

I can't do anything till I can solve this.

The error is generated by VM template overrides in your 3rd party joomla template. Try with a different Joomla template to see if it goes.

Yes, thank you, I changed the Joomla front end template and the error was gone!

I am kind of stuck with the original template though. I hope with this clue I can find out how to fix it. Any advice or pointers?

If it was a third party template ask them to provide override files which work with VM2.0.10  - it looks like they are using an incorrect link within the override.
