hello i would like it if anyone can tell where i can find a component or various components that can get my virtuemart product details layout to look similar to this one

http://www.victoriassecret.com/swimwear/bikinis/gorgeous-push-up-halter-top-the-gorgeous-swim-collection?ProductID=66393&CatalogueType=OLS

i have the joomla template already, all i really need is the color picker function(when i click a thumbnail of a color pattern it changes the product image) and the "add more at a time" function (you can check it out in that page also)

if anyone can tell me the names of component(s) to do that it would be greatly appreciated, it doesn't matter id they're paid extensions, or if this is possible using virtuemart default options please tell how to do it because i have no idea on how to do any of that

im using virtuemart 2.0.8 and joomla 2.5.6 thank you

balai

Hi,

You will be working on this for the version 2.x or will it be implemented only with version 3.x?

Cheers

el_carl0s

thank you for your answers guys, thanks balai but i need it for virtuemart 2.0.8

Milbo does this mean that it cant be done at this moment?

In fact I came across e tool which promises to do exactly this:

http://virtuemartcolors.com/

But the tool seems to still have several bugs and seems like the programmers gave up on it as they do not respond any questions here in the forum:

I just inherited this project. I have no idea why they are on such an old VM version.

But to my original question, will it work with the version mentioned?

Right now, depending on your timescales, Joomja 2.X with VM 2.X might be your safest route, but not without issues.

If you have some time, then there does seem to be a safe solution with J3.X and VM3.X, that is not quite there yet, but very close.

Moving from Joomla 2.X to J 3.X will involve pain
Moving from VM 2.X to VM 3.X will involve a magnitude of pain.

Right now, starting fresh with VM3 on J3 is the best place to start and then bring everything forward that you can (CSS and imagery)

trying to move a site from 2.X to 3.X has cost me weeks and I simply wouldn't advise it....it is expensive

Wrong.

I have moved a lot of sites from VM2 to VM3. For the majority of VM sites upgrading from VM2 to VM3 causes no issues at all, subject to maybe some template overrides needing editing. But where a VM2 site makes extensive use of custom fields then there may be issues. The customs have been extensively rewritten because the old VM code was somewhat flawed. Once a user gets used to the new customs then they can usually see how much more useful they are.

@someyoungguy  I doubt if anyone advsing here now has an old site running VM2.0.16 to be able to check for you. You should not be using that old VM or Joomla version for security reasons. http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=118683.0
