Prices wont update

Hi,
I am currently developing a new virtuemart 2 and joomla 2.5 based ecommerce website with upwards of 5,000 products in it.
The problem i am having is after i have got all the products imported (with CSVI) i cannot change the prices if i go into the product pages, also the import does not import the prices.
The only way i have found of inputting the prices and changing them is from within the mysql database itself, by editing the line with the product i am trying to change in.
The user interface in the admin panel on the joomla backend allows me to change them, but upon clicking save it does not save the new prices, it just leaves it as it was.

Any help would be most appricated.

What step-by-step steps are you taking to change the prices in the Joomla backend?

I do the following and it works:

Update cost price value.
Update final price value.

Ensure that Override is set to 'Disabled'

Save and the price updates.
