Hi to all,

We have a multilingual VM2 site with quite a few categories (500+) which are actually car brands/makes, see here:

62.1.216.81/~qualtun/en

As you can understand, these do not have to be translated to all languages, they just need to stay as is, i.e. in English default language.

However, in VM2 if you don't translate them, they will not appear at all for the other languages. So, you need to go and fill the relevant language tables with the same English values which is a problem.

Is there not some kind of fallback to the default language if the categories are not translated? Currently it is indeed very troublesome for us, it could be so easy!

Rgrds,
Chris

You can solve this quickly by exporting the english language category sql table with phpmyadmin, rename the language suffix and import it again.

Thanks for the tip, this is indeed possible. One can also use CSVI.

After that ofcourse, adding a new category for example, starts to be a tedious task every time. Even if a translation is not required, you have to go an make an entry for all your languages.

Could be nice if an option could be added by the VM team in the future.
