Our company has been using VM as an online catalog but wants to open a separate website to sell a select few of our products.

Instead of having to input all of the products again on the new site, is there any way to copy files over to the new site and have them pop up automatically?

Thank you in advance for your generous help.

Hi Carlos, yes this is called a "site migration." Since you are a newbie let me recommend that you use a site migration service like http://www.shopping-cart-migration.com/.  For about $49 they can copy your entire current website to a new location, and all you need to do is change a few settings to let the products be purchased. I do recommend this service in my user manuals.

Hope that helps.

Answer is probably from my VirtueMart 2 User Manual ebook, includes FREE updates. FREE Admin Menu Cheatsheet, Quick Install Guide & 30-Minute Quick Setup Guide http://showmeguides.com/

Or you can easily do this yourself using CSVI ( http://www.csvimproved.com ) to transfer the relevant database entries and ftp to transfer the VM product/category images. CSVI is also very useful for performing product price updates, stock checks etc as the generated csv files can be read in a spreadsheet program such as Excel or OpenOffice Calc

Try with the free version first.
