Hi,

I am using VM 2.0.6 and Joomla 2.5
After adding a product in cart, when I try to remove the product from cart, the product is removed. However it shows the Shipping rate (without any products).
Please try at this link : http://apic.comze.com

Can you please assist.

You need to tell us a country and a zip code to test-

But I presume that once you have filled in all the data (address etc ) and then you remove the product then it allows you to put another product in there. Like it is saving you time.  If you put 4  products in there and you have 6 shipping rates and you delete one (product)  then it will ask you to choose a new one.    So maybe it is doing the right thing - and maybe your shipping rate is ( quite wide in its range) .

Best idea is to put a few products in the cart and test a confirmed product - and if the cart clears then I presume you will have no issue.

I have added several products and removed one by one... After removing the last item, instead of saying "There are no products in your cart.", it shows the cart page with no products and shipping rate applied. Screenshot is attached.
In my back end, I have only one shipping method which Flat rate..

yes ,

It is waiting for you to add a product ? If you only have one flat rate it will sit and wait fro the product to be added again.  The cart will only clear when you confirm a purchase or leave the site.

Do you only have one flat rate - if so it will just sit there - you need to test a confirmed purchase - what I'm saying is that is correct?

I'll give you an idea I add 10 products and I pick a postage and a payment option.   I delete all the products and add a new one - the cart is empty but the payment option stays because that will not change - but when I add new products the cart will realise  that my postage option will change and it will now ask for a new postage option.

example :  I deleted the cart and postage and payment stayed the same - because the zip code is set to free and the payment is a pick up - so it waits for a product from me to put into the cart.

Thanks John2400 for quick update!

However, after deleting the product and when no products are in the cart, it allows the user to click on checkout button. And once checkout button is clicked, it goes to the homepage where it says "There are no products in your cart."

Can't we redirect to the home page with above message when there are no products in the cart, instead of showing the cart page with empty products. It looks awkward.

That has to be requested in features - I'm sure they would love some new suggestions about now - 2.0.8 a looks very stable to me so now is a good time.

Just look for that on the forum - and make a suggestion - they (programmers ) will see it -

I am using VM 2.0.8e and it also has this problem.

Moderator: Your explanation is illogical and stupid.

If a cart is empty then display a message to say so.

Amazing how programmers dont test their code. They just assume it all works.

BCD,

Very odd message to post regarding updating the cart - " Your explanation is illogical and stupid." ? in regards to explanation - this then works perfectly as you have no products in your cart so it sends you the buyer to the front page again to begin a purchase again.

* the logic is that vendors do not want the buyer to put in all their personal information again - the buyer might change their mind and delete all their current products  and then restart again. It is also designed to allow people to change their mind on how to purchase a product , paypal, credit, etc -

It also allows the vendor to see the base price all all shipping products - but this has to be set by the vendor - if you have a postage showing then it is you the vendor who has set this base price It will have nothing to do with the code. If there is nothing at all in the cart it yes send you the buyer to try and buy again? that is logical.

I also might address the idea of version 2.0.8e ? that the designers should update the code? As we are well beyond this version and are infact at version 2.0.12f - They constantly test and retest. If you believe this is an error,  maybe it is what others want. Maybe you might update and then make your suggestion in regards to why the coders have left this issue.

Also the forum - has many people working on the code- very few of the moderators work on the code directly - maybe you should be "writing your suggestion" on requested features as I mentioned before and I would suggest that the words you use need a little more thought into what you are talking about and leave out - certain derogatory terms.

Infact it does work exactly as most want it to - " so the need for you is to ask also on the forum for a small hack" that will show your wording.

Best of luck -
