How do I set up a direct debit or ask the customer to enter their bank account?

you can use the standard payment method to do it.

For some reason the standard payment method doesn't work. I use VM2.0.2 & J1.7.2.
The tab Configuration is empty (don't know if that's supposed to be like that), so I can't select any countries.
The standard payment doesn't show up on the checkout page, whilest the other payment methods do (3rd party iDEAL and Mr Cash).
I selected the same shopper groups as for the other payment methods: anonymous, default, Gold Level, Wholesale. And of course it is published.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this problem addressed in a later VM version?

Whilst I am in no way an expert, I think this is the way to do it.

You need to create a new payment option. Unlike pervious versions it is not in the program as a feature.

So you go to payment methods and click the 'new' button.

Name it, save it  (not save and close) and then go to configuration to load the details. I have not tested it yet so I may be wrong although this looks like this is the way.

Alatak; I see you post a lot to use the standard version but you don't give any details. Some basic pointers would be much appreciated and maybe you could confirm my comments here?

Has anyone actually got the standard payment method working? I'm looking for a bank direct debit option and would appreciate any examples others have that got this operational.

Currently, with 'Standard' as the payment method, and if you select the 'Direct Debit' option during the shopping cart checkout, nothing happens - it just loops back to the checkout page.
