Show number of products for Category

Hi there,

I searched quite a while and could not find an answer:
I want to show the number of products for a category in the category list. I.e.:
Books (17)
Tables (12)
Chairs (2)

I know how to do overrides and stuff but so far I could not figure out, how to get the number of products.
