Mysql query optimisation - Commercial job

Hi There I'm having ongoing problems with 1 particular site. There are close to 250,000 products and its causing my server load to go thru the roof. tried everything like caching and various shop.browse_quereies.php changes.

Looking for someone to give me a definitive answer on how to solve this problem.

Please answer post for more details/URL etc

optimization depends very much on the structure of the data: do you have more than on price for each product? Parent/Child products? Need fulltext-search?

We have optimized Virtuemart shops with more than 600000 products.
