module search virtuemart apostrophe error

Good morning,
in the search module of virtuemart version 3.4.2.9966, typing a word that contains an apostrophe does not produce the result. While without apostrophe displays the product.
Someone solved it

Try with the current release ( http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/files ). There have been a lot of upgrades & bug fixes since 2018 when your version was released. Test on a copy of the live site, of course.

Hi there,
as of today the apostrophe problem still exists.
I'm running several VM sites in Italian languange and the problem is serious.
I wonder if someone found a solution.
Even a hint on were to look to try to solve the problem is welcome

More than 2 months and no response and no solution in sight.
For now I solved it by hacking administrator/components/com_virtuemart/helpers/vmmodel.php
I replace ''' with the apostrophe in $whereString and everything seems to work.
I know I will have to repeat the change with each update.
I would just like to know from the experts if this replacement could affect other parts of the VM
