All products not showing in frontend

Has anyone had the following problem? I have 1027 products in a store, but only 778 are showing in the frontend listing (however the product that does not appear in that listing appears in the search). If you change category product, it appears in the listing (some products in this category showing in the frontend, so it is not a problem in this category specifically). My categories are organized as follows: Offers (main) and associates (subcategories) -> categoryA, categoryB ... categoryH. Usually gives problem from H onwards.
