Joomla is 3.8.1 and Virtuemart is version 3.2.4.

Not my day today.
I'll get the message:
"Save failed with the following error: Please enter your name."

I have read on the forum but the solutions do not help me. For example:

I think You have messed with the login form and stripped out neccessary fields, but this is just a guess. It is the login form You are talking about ? Is it the Joomla or the VM form? Without a live URL not much to say about it. Settings for the customer fields is also important. Using custom template perhaps ?

Nice to see a Swedish shop. Have You tried entering something in username, just to rule out that the settings demand input there ?
This must be a misconfiguration. Check the settings for "Inställningar kundfält", see my settings.
