Virtuemart Product Ribbons - best solution?

Hi VM community!

I am looking for implementing product ribbons, such as: http://www.cssportal.com/css-ribbon-generator/.

We want to set the ribbon in product backend via custom fields, for easy management. Mysteriously, I can't find google results on this topic at all.

Is this because there already is a native VM solution I haven't seen? Does a great extension already exist? Or what would be the best solution to make this happen? Do you have examples?
